Mr. Brightside

"Hello! You managed to catch me at a good time- that's a feat in itself, heheh.

My name is Ginji. I'm a Class M fontechnician-- what? You don't know what that is? Geeze, no one around here seems to anymore...

I'm also a pilot. So, I might have crashed a couple times in the past- but that's to be expected. There were certain circumstances to be considered!

That said- if there's anywhere you're looking to go, I'd be happy to give you a lift!

It's nice to meet you"

— Headcanons

General Headcanons

  • His birthday is January twenty-first; he is currently twenty-three years old
  • The Albiore IX is currently being built and tested by Ginji and Noelle
  • Ginji now keeps Star safe after the death of his grandfather
  • The cause of Ginji’s white/gray hair is a mild case of anemia- he was originally born a brunette, and had all white hair by the time he was eighteen
  • He loves reading, mainly non-fiction; he seems unable to understand the point of fantasy stories at times
  • Ginji can not swim; growing up in a desert city, there had never been any need for him to learn
  • He’s a terrible cook. He tends to try and combine steps together logically to save time- though it always seems to end in disaster
  • Ginji is both fascinated, and a bit jealous, of fonists and what they can do, as he has no usable fonslots himself to practice the artes

Personality Headcanons

  • He has a nasty stubbornness issue; it’s unlike Ginji to give up on anything he does or believes in, which can often end in arguments with others
  • Ginji tends to think in a very logical manner; suggesting he kept in his room so much doing work that he didn’t get too much social interaction through his life. The primary socializers he had was the other fontechnicians. He knows how to be polite and how to joke, to an extent (his sense of humor is very corny you could say), but often times his reactions to things are more logical than emotional. He can keep a level-head, even in life or death situations
  • The main exception to his level-headed nature is how he acts to people he considers very close to him- of whom he is very emotionally protective. The only time he might reach a frantic state, is when they are hurt, troubled, or in danger
  • Normally calm and amicable, Ginji does have a rather angry side, that causes him to shout at others quite harshly if they prod him deeply enough
  • When working on a project, Ginji tends to shut himself up in his room for days while he works. Because of it, normally he has to be dragged from his work to even remember to eat at times
  • When asked about something he likes, when he’s nervous, or when he’s feeling low on time, Ginji tends to talk rather fast; sometimes to the point of being non-understandable
  • Ginji is very bad at making statements. When he talks, he often subtly asks for conformation of what he is saying; by adding words like ‘yes?’ ‘no?’ or ‘right’? to the ends of his sentences and making them unnecessary questions
  • He doesn’t deal well with insult-humor directed at himself. For a while he can deal with it, and even finds it funny; but sooner or later he grows a bit insecure about it, thinking the person actually means what they’re joking about
  • Ginji isn’t good at remembering things. Normally he is busy, and thus forgets what he is told- so he writes them down right away. If you were to look at his work space, it is covered in copious amounts of white sticky notes- all with short messages on them. Some the names of people he newly met, some dates, and some of simple notes he needed to remember to tell people. Normally these notes are not discarded- they just pile up on top of one another on walls and the desk sides. In a way, they’re like a diary because of such
  • He is easily excited by new things. If something interests him, he’ll quite instantly be off in a copious bout of questions about it; all while attempting to study and gather information himself
  • Ginji has a strong respect for ‘living while you’re young’. When he was a teenager, he kept to himself a lot more than he does now, and took care of the shop and his little sister rather than acting like a typical child. In retrospect realized it was a bad thing to mature so quickly, and it prompts him to often coax those younger than himself not to try and grow up so quickly
  • He is very much a mediator when it comes to disputes; unwilling to take a side in most cases, he tries to befriend both, and work something out between them
  • Ginji is very expressive when he talks, making unusual hand gestures, or thumbing toward the subject of the conversation aimlessly
  • Honest to a near fault, it is safe to say Ginji isn’t the best to trust with your darkest secrets. Though he has no bad intentions, he tends not to lie unless he has a really good reason. If you plan on telling him anything deep and dark, you have to make it very clear that he needs to keep quiet
  • Ginji can be rather easy to lie to. He puts too much faith in people at times, and is far to willing to accept their words at face value, unless he can quickly contradict their words
  • The unusual nature of the people he grew up around has made it quite easy for Ginji to accept all sorts of people. He tends not to complain about others, and is rather quick to look past any quirks

Biography Headcanons

  • Ginji once had an older brother; but he died in the test flight of one of the Albiore prototypes. This lead to his own precautionary respect for flight, and pressure to over-develop the safety of the later models
  • When he was young, Ginji was terrified of heights. It was a fear he only just over come with helping with work on the Albiore models
  • Noelle is only Ginji’s half-sister; they have a different father, which is the cause of their great difference in appearances
  • Ginji was raised by his grandfather Iemon because the man took both him and his sister in after their mother died of illness when Ginji was twelve (they never knew their father originally)
  • The first time Ginji left Sheridan was piloting the original Albiore; most of the places he has ever been he only visited while traveling with Asch. Because of this, he shows a child-like endearment to seeing new places and the different things people do in new cities
